Hands-on Software Training

We provide hands-on training in some of the most popular Microsoft® software applications.  Students get a very extensive explanation for how to use the various features of each software application.

In addition to being a continuing education instructor at a local college, our instructor has over 15 years teaching experience along with other computer training, software and database development experience.

While most of our classes are focused on a single software application during each class, there are situations where more that one application is needed to accomplish the desired goal.  Therefore, we can provide instruction for using multiple application together to reach a specific objective.

Our Training Can Be Provided One-On-One Using the Internet

Each class is conducted on line.  This means that you get your training without even having to leave your office.

We use "GoToMeeting.com" to schedule each training class.  Using this technology we can not only allow you to see the instructors screen on your computer, but the instructor can be allowed to see your computer screen.  The instructor can demonstrate the techniques that are to be used and then observe as the student works through implementing those techniques.

Customized Classes for Small Groups are Also Available

We can design customized classes for small groups.  The content for each class can be based on the specific needs of the students that will be attending each class.  While we can accommodate up to 10 students in any one class, we like to limit our classes to no more that four to five students in any one class. Our classes can be customized for not only content, but also for length.

How It Works

We require that each student who will be attending each class complete our Training Needs Assessment Sheet.  The Training Needs Assessment Sheet is then used to evaluate the needs of each potential student.  We then design a class that will cover the specific needs of the students.

You can access our Training Needs Assessment Sheet document in the following ways:

1. Complete the Training Needs Assessment Sheet on line and submit it to us.

2. Download the Training Needs Assessment Form as a Word document Form.

3. Download the Training Needs Assessment Form as a PDF document (The Acrobat Reader is required for reading and printing. You can download the Acrobat Reader by clicking here.).

4 . Receive the Training Needs Assessment Sheet by fax:  Just contact our office at (903) 839-2678 and request a copy the Training Needs Assessment Sheet.

If a class is being designed for a group from one specific company or office, after reviewing the results of the students Training Needs Assessment Sheet,  we will contact the responsible individual at that company and together we will evaluate our findings.  Then, using the information in the Training Needs Assessment Sheet, and the input from you the client, we will develop a list of specific items that are to be covered in on specific class.  Our instructor will use this list to guide the class though the training session.

For individuals who would like to take advantage of our unique training, we will work with the information from your Training Needs Assessment Sheet to group your needs with those of others with like training needs. You will be notified when the next training class is scheduled to meet and will be given the opportunity to join the class.

Class Descriptions:

Microsoft Windows XP®

The material covered in this course would help the student to use the operating system of their computer with a more complete understanding of just what control they have when using their computer.  In addition to the Windows Basics, students would also learn to: use the Windows Explorer to perform file management (copy, delete and move files; create and manage folders), create and manage Desktop Icons, use the Windows Task Bar, Manage Windows Settings (screen resolution, screen savers, desktop background, etc.), manage multiple applications running at the same time, implement and use the "Quick Launch" bar.

In advanced classes we would also cover setting up a peer-to-peer network, mapping drives and more advanced file management.

Microsoft Office Suite®

When someone uses the term "The Microsoft Office Suite" they are referring to a collection of software applications that are installed as one group.  The entire group of application are designed to perform together to allow users to accomplish specific tasks, like word processing, spreadsheet work, contact management, email, presentations and other common activities.

The individual software applications that collectively make up the Microsoft Office Suite are commonly referred to by their respective names.

Although we do not normally spend a great deal of time teaching on the Office Suite collectively, there actually could be some opportunity for training in the use of the Office Suite.  When combined with the programming language of the Microsoft Office Suite, VBA (Visual Basic Application), there more power available to the everyday user that has ever been available before.
