We provide hands-on training in the most popular software application. In addition to being a continuing education instructor at a local college, our instructor has over 15 years teaching experience and computer training, software and database development. Students get a complete explanation for how to use the various features of each software application.
While most of our classes are focused on a single software application, there are situations where more that one application is needed to accomplish the desired goal. Therefore, we can provide instruction for using multiple application together to reach the objective.
Training Provided at Your Location
We actually bring our up-to-date laptop computers to your location. (If you prefer to have the instruction at some other location, we can suggest locations.) Our laptops are preloaded with the latest version of Windows XP®, the Microsoft Office Suite® and Microsoft Access®. All you need to provide is a small conference room or some other area where a maximum of 4 students and the instructor can meet.
We will bring in our equipment, including a video projector and screen, and setup everything, teach the class and then remove all equipment when the class is complete.
Every class is different. We customize each class for the students that will be attending that class.
Here's how it works. We require that each student who will be attending each class complete our "Student Training Needs Identification Sheet." (This document is available by contacting our office at (903) 839-2678 and requesting it. We will fax a copy to your office.)
When all "Student Training Needs Identification Sheets" are completed, we will contact the individual that requested the training and evaluate our findings. Usisng the information in the forms and the input from you the client, we will develop a list of specific items that are to be covered in the class. Our instructor will use this list to guide the class though the training session.
Every office and every student are different. There is no "One Class Fits All". This is the reason that we do not just prepare a lesson plan and expect every student to follow the plan.
We will provide specific instruction to any students who has a specific question that needs to be answered. We have only one guiding statemen: "The only dumb question is the question that is not asked."
Class Descriptions:
The material covered in this course would help the user to use the operating system of their computer with a more complete understanding of just what control they have for using their computer. In addition to the Windows Basics, just a few of the things that students will learn are: use the Windows Explorer to perform file management (copy, delete and move files; create and manage File Folders), create and manage Desktop Icons, user the Windows Task Bar, Manage Windows Settings (screen resolution, screen savers, desktop background, etc.), manage multiple applications running at the same time, implement and use the "Quick Launch" bar. In advanced classes we would also cover setting up a peer-to-peer network, mapping drives and more advanced file management.
When someone uses the term "The Microsoft Office Suite" they are referring to a collection of software applications that are installed as one group. The entire group of application are designed to perform together to allow users to accomplish specific tasks, like word processing, spreadsheet work, contact management, email, presentations and other common activities.
The individual software applications that collectively make up the Microsoft Office Suite are commonly referred to by their respective names.
Although we do not normally spend a great deal of time teaching on the Office Suite collectively, there actually could be some opportunity for learning here. When combined with the programming language of the Microsoft Office Suite, VBA (Visual Basic Application), there more power available to the everyday user that has ever been available before.
Microsoft Word is probably today's most widely used word processing software. This powerful software is so much more than just a word processor that it is almost impossible to fully describe its total capabilities.
Classes in Word can basically be divided into four categories: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced and what we refer to as a "Super Users". These terms represent a description of the different levels of using of Word. The individual person should evaluate their own skills and try to determine which of these categories they fit into.
Beginner level students will be expected to learn to: Open Word, start a new document, save the current document, the Word menu, basic page formatting, printing documents, getting help, use Auto Correct, copying and pasting, creating tables, work with margins, use spell checking and the Thesaurus, saving a document as a Web Page, adding hyperlinks, and even sending documents via email.
Intermediate level students would be expected to learn to:

Advanced level students would be expected to learn to:

Our "Super Users" would be those students who want to learn to use Visual Basic Application (VBA) language to not only control Excel but to actually access and manipulate the other applications in the Office Suite in order to utilize the power of those applications to perform tasks related to the thing that each application was specific to do.

Classes in PowerPoint will teach students to learn things like: PowerPoint basics, create presentations, use templates, format a slide, use copy and paste, use Animated Text, print presentations, create links and actions, use bullets and numbering, special effects, add sound to a presentation and implement timings and transitions.
Classes in Outlook will teach students to learn things like: Outlook basics, create messages, read messages, use the address book, respond to messages, customize email, attachments and more.
